High Street Regeneration

brentford-high-street_web.jpgWorking with other local councillors, since 2006 Andrew has been Founding Chair of Brentford High Street Steering Group.  Andrew produces regular updates on the reasons behind delays in the regeneration of the built environment.

Successes over the past few years are:
• Producing the award-winning Community vision for the High Street
• New car park - this took 2.5 years of sustained campaigning and was first suggested in the early nineties
• Removal of fines and introduction of ticketed parking from 7-10am outside Post Office
BrentfordHighStreet.com
• WedgeCard - we are currently considering how this could be relaunced
• Christmas Lights 07/ 08/ 09 (co-ordinated by Julia Quilliam)
• Windows on Brentford
• History on the high street exhibition (supporting the Thomas Layton Trust)
• New trading licenses policy
• Relocating and restoring the war memorial (supporting Julia Quilliam)

Our top priorities at the moment are:
1) A change in the Council’s rent policy for shops to make rents fairer and encourage diversity.
2) A Town Centre Manager to be appointed to promote the High Street and support its economic development.
3) Christmas Lights - With your support Julia Quilliam is continuing her amazing drive to raise money for a third year of Christmas Lights on Brentford High Street.

How should we invest in Gunnersbury Park?
Raise capital by building on the corner of the park
Raise capital by building on Carville Park North
Raise capital from another source - e.g. events
